Building Stronger

minimal

  • The Barn

Modern, minimalist, and rustic combine to make a beautiful open barn style home. I wish the builders, CGH Constructions, gave more information about the house. But from their photos it looks like it can sleep at least 14 people. Most of which fit in a large bunk style room with 4 queen size beds and…

  • Close to the simplest thing you could do with a couple shipping containers. Really nice in an all black exterior and simple plywood interior walls. I wonder what happens when lots and lots of snow piles up on top? Looks like more than enough room for two small bedrooms off the Y ends with a…

  • Under cabinet lighting gives the travertine (aka limestone) backsplash a warm glow, texture depth, and brings it together with the warm brown lower cabinetry. Otherwise the kitchen is nearly monochrome with simple thick white marble counters and an almost invisibly flat glass cook top. This would be a really great kitchen.

  • Really beautiful minimal kitchen with warm brass fixtures and a great wood herringbone countertop. Simple and sleek with no backsplash or other distractions. I might hesitate with wood next to the sink like that, but it should be fine with modern sealants.

  • Minimal doesn’t have to mean it’s not warm and cozy. A simple rolling hill of grass outside bakes a really inviting minimal and manicured yard for this modern glass house.

  • Like all good charts it’s up and to the left. In this case the block sizes of the house increasing gently, slightly breaking up the otherwise completely simple white block facade.

  • Wide white oak flooring and white walls makes the warm leather and fireplace really stand out in this minimal interior.

  • Floor to ceiling window don’t always have to be really wide. This slim window lets in a sliver of light and lets you see everything outside, while maximizing privacy. A really great architectural feature to add a dramatic line to an otherwise boring wall.

  • Beach House

Open to the ocean breeze almost all the way around this costal getaway is designed nicely. One paster suite and three guest rooms, each with their own bathroom and perfect view of the ocean. The huge soaking tub is also a nice addition.

  • Sleek little black cabin situated for an amazing view of rolling hills and mountains. With an all black outside it contrasts beautifully with the bright green grass and the stark white interior. It might be tiny, but it’s everything you need to get away from life for a while.

  • Clean and simple modern barn-styled cabin with vertical wood siding and a metal roof. The warm glow from inside the sliding barn door makes it feel cozy and warm. While still more closed and private feeling than many modern all glass homes, several large windows and skylights bring in lots of natural light to the…

  • Sun-drenched from the skylight and all white walls, this minimalist bedroom is simple and clean. The sloped roof and inviting looking sheets keep it cozy feeling despite the bare walls. The perfect place to crash while staring up at the stars after a long day of skiing.

  • The off-center roof peak and huge picture window makes this minimal bedroom stand out. Built-in closets all around to store away all your crap. Black out curtains that hang to the floor for some more sound absorption and a cozier feeling.

  • The perfect modern ski getaway chalet. Warm light wood contrasts nicely with the black metal roof and siding. The stack of wood and ski lift bench perfectly alluding to the purpose of the buildings existence and that there’s a cozy fire roaring inside when you get back from the slopes.

  • Cozy minimalist cabin bedroom and a fireplace, what more do you need? Well, maybe a bit more, but I could snooze here in from of the fireplace for days while staring out at the snowy wilderness.

  • Bright & Cozy

This super bright and cozy interior is simply amazing. A minimal interior and gently sloping, more than floor to ceiling, picture window that lets you look out onto the snowy world as it piles up against the glass. I can just imagine staring up at the moon at night lying on the floor.

  • Nicely designed with a charcoal metal roof and siding with a large picture window to let the wilderness in. Placed on top of an ancient looking (but probably new) stone foundation to give it more height sticking out from the side of a mountain.
